Administration | Academic and Sport Merit System
Bronze cards are issued to learners for excellent results in tests, outstanding assignments and excellent presentations. Bronze cards are accumulated over the year with learners striving to achieve their bronze, silver, gold and platinum merit badges. Merit badges are always presented to learners in special award assemblies and parents are invited to attend.
If a learner receives 9 bronze cards they will be awarded a BRONZE badge in assembly.
If a learner receives 18 bronze cards they will be awarded a SILVER badge in assembly.
If a learner receives 27 bronze cards they will be awarded a GOLD badge in assembly.
A Learner can complete the cycle twice, receiving a second bronze, silver and the final level of Platinum. They would then have had to achieve a total of 54 bronze cards over the year.
Please note: All badges are returned to the school at the end of the year. Learners wishing to keep their badge(s) may purchase these from the office. A final Certificate Award Assembly is held at the end of the year with learners receiving a certificate for the level of merit badge they have attained.
Learners in Grade 7 to 12 who achieve an aggregate of 80% and above in any given year will be issued with an Academic badge at Prize-giving that may be worn for one year. The aggregate is based on the first three terms of the year and includes academic subjects, not practical subjects.
Please note, scrolls will only be issued to High School learners from the end of their Grade 9 year.
Learners who have excelled academically or in sport are acknowledged for their excellent performance by being allowed to wear colours on their blazers or being issued a scroll. The following criterion is used to determine this Status:
